At the United Philanthropy Forum’s 2019 Conference in Cleveland, Ohio, Native Americans in Philanthropy kicked off the conference by exposing attendees to the history of indigenous peoples and how it connects to philanthropy’s recent focus on racial equity. To say that The Blanket Exercise is rooted in ‘experiential learning’ is an understatement. It forces participants to confront some of the toughest realities regarding colonization and its present-day effects on Indigenous Peoples in the United States. By the end, I felt physically ill. But I also knew I could contribute in some way.

Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation recently awarded a grant to Clínica Tepeyac, located in northern Denver, to purchase equipment for a brand new dental clinic.

Clínica Tepeyac primarily provides primary and preventative care to underserved and Spanish-speaking populations in Denver. Often, patients coming to the clinic for medical services do not have dental care. With the new addition of the dental clinic, patients can receive medical care and dental care at the same location, with bilingual service providers.

Funders and nonprofits came together at the beautiful Penrose House in Colorado Springs to connect, network, and learn at the annual C(3) Forum, presented in partnership with Colorado Nonprofit Association and Community Resource Center. Participants discussed how to achieve change at a local and systemic level. Many thanks to our generous sponsors El Pomar Foundation and Colorado Springs Health Foundation, as well as to our wonderful keynote speaker Jonathan Liebert of Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado.
